Fair market value is determined by the Rapides Parish Assessor’s Office. Taxes due is computed by multiplying the assessed value by the tax rate

Example 1

Home with a land value of $25,000 and a building value of $75,000

Compute assessed value:

  • Land – 10% of $25,000 = $2,500
  • Building – 10% of $75,000 = $7,500
  • Assessed Value = $10,000

Compute Property Tax: $10,000 * 0.02454 = $245.40 taxes due

Example 2

Commercial location with a land value of $25,000 and a building value of $75,000

Compute assessed value:

  • Land – 10% of $25,000 = $2,500
  • Building – 15% of $75,000 = $11,250
  • Assessed Value = $13,7500

Compute Property Tax: $13,750 * 0.02454 = $337.43 taxes due
